Clinical Research Coordinator
- (3239081)GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
The Lemieux laboratory in the MGH Division of Infectious Diseases and the MGH Sexual Health Clinic are developing new diagnostic assays for infectious diseases and are seeking a talented and motivated Clinical Research Assistant who can play a central role in this effort. The Research Assistant will work on a variety of projects in infectious disease research, especially those focusing on sexually-transmitted diseases, respiratory viruses, and tick-borne pathogens. Among other projects, the Research Assistant will help create new diagnostics for sexually transmitted diseases and evaluate their utility in a point-of-care setting, working closely with Dr. Jana Jarolimova.
Project Coordination Responsibilities:
- Recruiting patients for study participation and obtaining informed consent
- Maintaining study data using REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture)
- Assisting with additional data entry and management responsibilities
- Interacting with principal investigators regularly, ensuring patient safety and adherence to proper study conduct
- Additional general administrative support
- Assisting with other academic projects in collaboration with principal investigators (e.g., academic lectures, scientific conference presentations)
- Working with other research assistants and clinical research coordinators on research projects
Laboratory Responsibilities:
- Labels and analyzes laboratory samples obtained from the Sexual Health Clinic
- Sets up and prepares routine experiments as directed Conducts analysis of results and may begin interpretation of results
- Maintains laboratory notebook
- Prepares lab reagents, instruments, chemicals, and equipment
- Assists with organizing materials for publication or presentation
- Maintains and orders supplies
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work as part of a complex team
- Ability to comfortably interact with study participants
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and prioritize tasks
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to document research activities
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to follow directions
- Working knowledge of clinical research protocols
- Ability to demonstrate respect and professionalism for subjects’ rights and individual needs
- Bachelor’s Degree Required; course work in biology, psychology, public health, the pre-medical sciences, or related fields is preferred
- Previous laboratory experienced preferred but not required
- New graduates with some relevant course/project work or those without any prior research experience will be considered for the Clinical Research Coordinator I position outlined above.
- A Clinical Research Coordinator I does not have any supervisory responsibility.
- A Clinical Research Coordinator II may assist with the training and orientation of new staff members.
