Job description
For this role we are seeking a team member with clinical experience (CNA) who provide phlebotomy services while also performing patient check in and check out as well as chart preparation tasks for the imaging department.
Under general supervision in an outpatient clinic setting, assists in registering patients, provides initial patient evaluation when necessary, phlebotomy and administrative services, patient chart preparation for imaging and laboratory, assists with direct patient care, and performs specialized medical procedures of a routine nature, as dictated by established clinical protocol.
Essential Job Duties:
Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks: checks in patients, assists in obtaining patient histories, takes vital signs, and assists with medical examinations and setting up in-office procedures.
Performs routine specialized procedures, such as venipuncture, and sterile dressing changes under established protocols.
Maintains stocks of medicines and medical supplies as necessary.
Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
Provides triage paperwork support for the clinic within the direction of a Provider, RN or LPN.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. This may include toileting of patients, assisting in patient transfers, cleaning exam rooms, completing and entering urinalysis, setting labs up for transport, chaperoning pelvic exams, performing bladder scans, cleaning and sterilizing instruments.
Job Requirements:
CNA with a current license in the state of Wisconsin.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Interviewing skills.
- Ability to perform standard clinical procedures according to established protocols.
- Ability to perform routine invasive procedures, such as venipuncture and catheterization, in accordance with established clinical protocol.
- Knowledge of patient evaluation and triage procedures.
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
- Knowledge of inventory management practices.
- Ability to educate patients and/or families as to the nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper care and treatment.
- Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
- Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories.
- Knowledge of outpatient clinical administrative procedures.
- Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 50 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
- Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
- Will work with blood or blood-borne pathogens and will require OSHA training.
- May be required to travel to the satellite clinics to provide coverage.
