Overview:


The Contracts Paralegal/Legal Assistant will assist members of the legal team by providing clerical and research support services including contract preparation and reviews of contracts. Reports to the Director of Compliance. Position has the potential to become a hybrid/remote position after an initial training process and contracts management system has been fully implemented. Candidate will be working in our Fort Smith, Arkansas office.

Responsibilities:
  • Support Director of Compliance and other members of the legal team with compliance or legal department initiatives, corporate governance matters and other department projects.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of a contracts management system and other legal or compliance programs throughout the company as needed;
  • Administer the contract management system.
  • Perform initial reviews of routine contracts including but not limited to standard agreements with staffing firms, nondisclosure agreements, and vendor service agreements.
  • Act as a liaison between skilled nursing facilities and outside counsel for non-routine or complex contract reviews;
  • Draft and proof legal documents including contract termination notices, contract addendums or amendments, corporate resolutions and board minutes;
  • Prepare, organize, store, and retrieve company records, which may include corporate minute books, board meeting materials, and contracts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Legal Assistance/Paralegal Studies or related field required; or alternatively, a Paralegal certificate from an accredited program.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a paralegal role
  • Some related contract management and compliance experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, contract management processes, and other related matters.
  • Knowledge of long-term care or healthcare law is a bonus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
