Essential Functions

  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements
  • Establishes and implements short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
  • Safeguards assets and assures accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls, and checks across all departments
  • Manages the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, and cost accounting
  • Coordinates with Financial Analyst to ensure accuracy of general ledgers
  • Oversees all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
  • Maintains internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and financial statements
  • Consistently reviews financial data and presents financial reports in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ensures that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period
  • Reviews monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Reviews accounts payable documentation for accuracy and authorization; release for payment
  • Reviews biweekly payroll including payroll register, timesheets, new hires & payroll changes
  • Oversees reconciliation of all bank accounts
  • Provides oversight for general ledger functions and month-end close process
  • Reviews general ledgers, monthly, for accuracy and completeness
  • Assists with monthly financial reporting, including timely preparation and distribution of reports
  • Assures accurate and timely payroll in compliance with State and Federal wage and hour laws
  • Recommends process improvements to increase efficiency and controls in accordance with GAAP
  • Ensures proper accounting for fixed asset purchases
  • Assists the CFO in reviewing the tax returns

Experience and Education

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree required
  • CPA required
  • Three to five years relevant experience required
  • Proficiency with computerized accounting and payroll systems and PC spreadsheets
