Corporate Controller

Job Description
Summary
The Controller shares accountability with the CFO for the administrative, financial, human resources, and risk management functions of the company.
Essential Functions
Planning: Assists CFO
- Assists in formulating the company’s future direction and supporting tactical initiatives
- Assists with monitoring and directing the implementation of strategic business plans
- Assists with development financial strategies
- Oversees the capital request and budgeting process
- Helps develop performance measures that support the strategic direction
Financial:
- Oversees the issuance of financial information
- Prepares and updates annual financial budgets
- Personally performs all relevant tax filings, i.e. payroll, franchise, sales/use, property
- Reviews income tax filings
- Reports financial results to Executive management
- Assists with reporting quarterly results to banking, insurance and surety partners
Risk Management:
- Understands key elements of the company’s risk profile
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies
- Ensures that processes/procedures meet auditor and governmental requirements
- Maintains relationship with external auditors and investigates their findings and recommendations
Funding:
- Monitors cash balances and cash forecasts
Third Parties:
- Maintains relationships with banking, surety, insurance, and employee benefit “partners”
Operations:
- Participates in key decisions as a member of the Executive Team
- Maintains in-depth relations with all managerial staff
- Manages the accounting, legal and tax functions
- Oversees the financial operations of related companies
- Manages third parties to which functions have been outsourced
- Oversees the transaction processing system
- Helps implement operational best practices

Supervisory Responsibility – Controller Administrative Asst., Corporate Risk Manager, A/P Job Accountant, Receptionist
Work Environment –Works in a professional office environment. Uses standard office equipment such as phones, computers, copiers, fax machines. Must visit project sites.
Physical Demands – Position is mostly a sedentary position.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work – This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Some overtime and weekends required.
Travel – Minimal.
Education and Experience
- MBA/MPA in business related discipline, i.e. accounting, business administration, human resources, finance, CPA required
- 10 + years of progressively responsible experience for a medium/large company or major company division
