Texas-based statewide Systems Integration Company seeks a Controls Engineer and/or Programmer for municipal water/wastewater Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems, electrical, instrumentation, and controls projects throughout Texas. Services include design, project management, PLC & HMI programming, deployment, testing, and commissioning with some service and technical support for existing customers in the SCADA industry.

Duties:

Corporate liaison for local water/wastewater utilities on needs for system upgrades, service, and project support.

  • Provides system programming and completes acceptance tests.
  • Maintains systems and products by responding to problems; conducting tests; diagnosing problems; completing repairs on electronic control panels, radio communication devices, computer systems and networks, and software.
  • Maintains records by documenting original system, upgrades, and repairs; completes work orders for invoicing by the central office. Complies with project management documentation.
  • Complies with regulations by adhering to codes, specifications, and rules; reads blueprints and technical bulletins.
  • Keeps company-provided installation & service equipment and vehicle operating by following operating instructions in order to meet job duty requirements.
  • Updates job knowledge by completing re-certification; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional and technical publications, as required.
  • Provides technical support for outside sales missions by completing related tasks as needed by an area sales representative.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Proficient with the following PLC Platforms:
  • Allen-Bradley - ControLogix, CompactLogix, MicroLogix – all generations
  • Modicon - M580 and M340 and predecessor generations
  • Less relevant are Siemens, GE, SCADAPack, Automation Direct
  • Proficient with the following HMI/MMI Platforms: Ignition, VTScada, Wonderware (AVEVA), Allen-Bradley Factory Talk, and iFix.
  • IT Systems experience with Managed Switch configuration layer 2 and layer 3, VLAN configuration, Ring Topology Configuration, Firewall configuration, and DMZ configuration.
  • Client experience with a customer service ability.

Travel and Time Requirements:

  • Projects are all within State of Texas.
  • Travel is Monday – Friday, home on weekends.
  • Estimated travel time is 50% out of the Central Texas Office but varies depending on how much project development can be completed offsite.
  • Flexible schedule for salaried employee but demands of the job can exceed 40 hours at times. Many jobs are time-sensitive and deadlines are required to be achieved.
  • Water/Wastewater is a mission critical infrastructure and response to demands for service is essential.
  • Incentive pay for after hours, holidays, and weekends.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
