Waldorf University has immediate openings for Full-time or Part-time
Cooking staff in the Dining Hall. Cooking staff provide positive, professional customer service and food preparation to the Waldorf University community. Will prep and prepare meals and food items for appropriate numbers on a daily basis for onsite service, deli, and/or catering events. Provide input and/or is involved in ordering inventory and meal planning. Expectations to follow and maintain quality standards, sanitation regulations, and food safety standards. All dining staff are expected to cross train and assist with other department responsibilities when time allows or is needed. Ideal candidates will be customer service minded, skilled in the kitchen, able to follow recipe and safety standards.

Positions are primarily an academic year based, with some needs over the summer for catering, conferences, and events. Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, weekends and extended hours as business dictates.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner
- Follow recipes specifications
- Operate standard kitchen equipment safety and efficiently
- Clean and maintain station(s) and equipment in practicing good safety and sanitation
- Assist with maintaining organized kitchen
- Restock items as needed throughout the shift
- Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes
- At times will or may be provide service in dining hall
Cooking Position Areas
- Deli Production Cooks (prepare and package sandwiches and salads)
- Production Cooks (prepare and cook for meal-time service/next meal prep)
Working Hours: Hours may vary to meet service and staffing needs and adjustments for catering or special events. Hours are subject to change. Part-time may be flexible based on job assignment and availability. Typical operational hours for regular service schedule include:
- Weekdays: 6:00am to 2:00pm or 1:00pm to 8:30pm
- Weekends: 8:00am to 2:00pm or 1:00pm to 8:00pm
Travel: little to no travel, large catering events may require service in an off-campus location
Skills/Aptitude:
- Presents self in a highly professional manner to others and understands that honesty and ethics are essential.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude.
- Ability to communicate with co-workers and other departments with professionalism and respect.
- Requires familiarity of kitchen equipment.
- Good working knowledge of food preparation.
- Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised
- Maintains a professional relationship with all coworkers, vendor representatives, supervisors, managers, customers, and client representatives.
Physical Requirements:
- Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses.
- Significant walking or other means of mobility.
- Ability to work in a standing position for long periods (up to 8 hours).
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50-70 pounds assisted.
