Job summary
Amazon is seeking an experienced Corporate Development Leader who will be responsible for generating, managing, and executing mergers and acquisitions, minority investments, and strategic partnership activities focusing on technology and innovation. This leader will be a business partner to senior leadership and will be highly visible at the most senior levels of Amazon, including interaction with Amazon's CEO and CFO. The selected candidate will be part of a small team responsible for originating, executing, and supporting acquisitions and other strategic initiatives. The person in this role will also be responsible for raising Amazon’s worldwide deal-making profile.
This position can be based in Seattle, WA, San Francisco, CA, New York, NY or Southern California (LA area).
Key Strategic Objectives
The selected candidate will act as a primary contact in supporting Amazon's business units and senior leadership by conducting industry research, valuation analyses, due diligence, creation of strategic documents/recommendations, acquisition term sheets and contract negotiations, and both internal and external relationship building.

- Identify appropriate opportunities which support Amazon's strategic priorities through interaction with senior business leaders, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, investment bankers, and organic pipeline generation
- Partner with business units to evaluate and drive internal thinking on expansion opportunities
- Evaluate the benefits of potential acquisitions and innovate the process of building consensus
- Act as a subject matter expert on valuation and deal structuring
- Lead all pre-transaction diligence efforts
- Evaluate opportunities and risks in potential transactions
- Work with all cross-functional groups within Amazon to execute on the relationships from term sheet signature to proper integration
- Establish the ongoing processes, skill sets, and strategy that will enable Amazon to continue to build out our corporate development competency, in the face of a rapidly changing industry
