Overview


SCCI is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Senior Cost Accountant to provide financial analysis, billing and related program control responsibilities for government contracts. The individual must have prior experience performing such services for Cost-Plus, incrementally funded government contracts or have performed in the capacity of program financial analyst in support of Cost-Plus, incrementally funded government contracts. This position is located at the Corporate Office in Frederick, Maryland.


Responsibilities:

  • Review and document contractual requirements regarding allowable direct cost, financial reporting and billing
  • Collaborate with the program management team to determine and create the appropriate system setup to support customer reporting, internal reporting and billing requirements
  • Generate and submit bills, and all supporting documentation, for the company’s contracts to the US Government on a monthly basis
  • Review and assign the proper accounting codes for all cost included on subcontractor invoices coordinating with subcontractor personnel to research and, if necessary, obtain corrections from the subcontractor
  • Monitor payments of outstanding bills and contact the Governments paying office to ensure payment delays are addressed in a timely manner
  • Review contract funding modifications in conjunction with program management personnel and create appropriate charge codes in the company’s accounting system
  • Review all adjustments to cost charged to a contract to ensure the adjustment is appropriate given the contracts terms and conditions
  • Reconcile contract funding and payment information to contract modifications and government paying office records
  • Respond to requests from the Government to de-obligate funding, finalize variable fee rates and final close the company’s contracts
  • Assist with other financial analyses or accounting-related tasks as required and will participate in cross-training to serve as a back-up to other accounting department team members

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting plus 4 years of directly related experience or; High School Diploma or GED with 7+ years of directly related experience
  • The individual must have experience providing financial support for Cost-Plus, incrementally funded government contracts or have performed in the capacity of program financial analyst in support of Cost-Plus, incrementally funded government contracts
  • The individual must have a high level of proficiency utilizing Microsoft Excel including the ability to create and manipulate pivot tables to manage large volumes of data efficiently
  • Must be analytical, curious and observant
  • Must have the ability to identify or recognize when something (unexpected financial numbers, deviations from prior transaction patterns, unexpected results of a process) appears unusual or incorrect is vital to this position. Further, when the individual identifies something unusual the individual must possess the curiosity and analytical skills to drive them to research the matter and determine the appropriate corrective actions
  • The individual must have the ability to work with others to ensure consistent application of accounting practices and to understand and resolve issues arising within the financial/cost accounting area of responsibility
  • This individual will support other accounting department personnel as necessary to ensure efficient delivery of financial and cost accounting services in support of customer contracts
