Title: Custodian Evenings

Location: Suffield Public Schools Maintenance Department

Reports to: Director of Facilities

Period of Employment: Full Time – 12-month position – 40 hours per week
Shift 2:00 p.m. – 10:30 pm (approximately) Secondary or
Shift 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 pm (approximately) Elementary

Salary:
Salary, work year and working conditions will be in accordance with the current contract between the Board of Education and the Teamsters Local 671 Union.
2022/2023 Hourly Rate Range/Custodian $18.35 - $24.40
Summary:

• Clean all areas as assigned.
• Classrooms, corridors, offices and other instructional and non-instructional spaces with treated mop and/or vacuum cleaner, wet mop (disinfect as needed), or duster. Ability to strip and wax floors.
• Ability to use various custodial equipment (Ex. Auto scrubbers and burnishers)
• Remove waste from rooms and place in dumpster, making sure wastebaskets are in good sanitary condition.
• Drinking fountains, stairways, and entrances.
• Clean and disinfect lavatory floors, toilets, and sinks. Keep soap, paper towels and toilet paper dispensers filled.

• Secure buildings prior to leaving and check operation of heating system(s) as assigned.
• Keep Head Custodian updated on problems of emergency nature and/or potential problems, and develop recommended solution.
• Perform other tasks as directed by the Head Custodian.
• Repair electrical fixtures, heating systems, plumbing fixtures, instructional and non-instructional equipment, mechanical and structural components of school buildings as needs arise.
