Job description
Performs data entry, reconciliation, creates and updates spreadsheets, registrations, report generation, P/L statements and analysis.
1. Reviews departmental invoice submissions for accuracy and completeness.
2. Responds to telephone inquiries on payments, reconcile vendor statements, researches and corrects discrepancies.
3. Obtains, verifies or provides information concerning accounts payable documents and payments.
4. Contacts vendors to validate submitted information.
5. Assists with administration and maintenance of Laserfiche, including scanning documents.
6. Assists with monthly purchase card transactions. Assists with other accounting related projects as needed.
7. Uses technology to continuously improve processes and procedures.
8. Performs basic clerical duties along with research as needed.
9. Prepares bank deposits for multiple Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) accounts.
10. Assists at CVB sponsored events.
11. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
12. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.
13. Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
- Requires an understanding of the computerized accounting systems and the related sub-systems that operate within the City financial system.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication.
- Must have strong analytical skills.
- Must be comfortable working outside comfort zone with a willingness to learn.
- Must be a team player who is able to work in a fast-paced environment with deadlines.
- Must have proficiency in various software packages, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to provide excellent customer services including a desire to help customers regardless of their circumstance.
- Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in writing, as well as through speech, so others will understand.
- Ability to working independently and with minimal supervision.
- Must have the ability to learn additional applications as they are applied to our working assignments.
- Ability to maintain cooperative-working relationships with employees and those contacted in the course of work.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Requires an Accounting degree or five years of full-time accounting work experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job to equal five years.
Must have basic knowledge of accounting.
Requires experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, Sage50 or compatible accounting software.
Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check and credit check. Must pass a polygraph exam.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is rarely exposed to disagreeable environmental factors. There will be occasional exposure to outdoor weather elements as the position requires working outdoors during CVB sponsored events throughout the normal course of the year.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. This job requires the ability to work in an office environment where the noise level is usually moderate.
