Summary
The Reactor Care Operator is responsible for executing direction provided to the shift operations team to operate/turnaround the manufacturing assets in a disciplined manner to safely and efficiently manufacture a quality product. The Reactor Care Operator is responsible for the use of operational discipline instructional documentation including SOP, SMP, SWI, SKP, Job Plan or any other temporary or permanent approved procedures in addition to adherence to all Site Safety Standards.
Specific areas of responsibility include:
- CVD Reactors – S-62, S-72, S-82, S-92, S-192, S-292
Specific tasks include:
- Responsible for reactor turnarounds including operation of cranes and harvesting polysilicon.
- Responsible for the Housekeeping in the Reactor Room, Poly Storage Room, PPE Room, lunch room and control rooms.
Pay Rate Information:
Pay begins at $19.85, upon certification (typical time frame is 2-3 months) pay increases to $21.58. Role has the potential to progress to $28.78.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for operation and maintenance of manufacturing assets in a disciplined manner adhering to all regulatory and site management systems.
- Recognize, react to, and escalate abnormal situations to ECO and/or Shift Leader.
- Responsible for completion of shift exchange and communication (E-Log, shift exchange) including up to date completion of instructional documentation (SOPs, SMPs, SWIs, etc.).
- Responsible for safe harvest of poly u-rods and subsequent reactor setups by use of cranes, pallet mules, hand and power tools, and other TA equipment. Also responsible for safely operating reactor cleaning equipment.
- Responsible for maintaining area housekeeping to sustain quality standards.
- Responsible for staying up to date on required and assigned training.
- Responsible for working as part of a coverage group in a rotating swing shift schedule including positive coverage and on-call responsibilities.
Additional Responsibilities
- Attend and participate in area-based Safety Meetings.
- Participate in Behavioral Based Safety program.
- Provide feedback to Operational Excellence and Training team for instructional documentation improvement, modification, and completeness.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement program by generating and communicating ideas to improve the technology and process operations for higher quality, lower cost, safer and more reliable operation.
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
Work Experience Requirements:
- Experience with hand and power tools.
- Experience with Windows based PCs.
- Experience in military/maintenance/construction trades, preferred
- Experience in manufacturing, preferred.
- Experience with troubleshooting equipment issues, preferred.
Working Conditions:
This job involves a high percentage of time spent on physical activities such as climbing stairs and ladders, operating large manual valves, and hand tools. Environmental conditions of the job include exposure to all kinds of weather, hazardous chemicals, heat, mechanical and electrical energy. The reactor rooms can be extremely hot. The use of chemically resistant suits, respirators, face shields, goggles, boots, and rubber gloves may be required. The individual must be fit tested for respirator yearly and meet physical requirements for the wearing of a personal respirator and PPE.
