Substitute Teacher Job Description

FLSA Status:Non-Exempt

Reporting:This position reports to the School Director or designee.

Purpose

Substitute perform the instructional and classroom management processes for teachers who are absent for a day or longer periods of time.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Serve as a substitute teacher as needed

· Present the substitute lesson plan and facilitate student completion of the lessons

· Follow the guidelines established to monitor student attendance

· Use resources that will promote high levels of learning and student engagement in the classroom environment

· Work effectively with students, parents, staff members, and community representatives in providing a rigorous educational program

· Establish a classroom environment that is safe and supportive, where risk-taking is encouraged and students feel free to contribute their ideas

· Provide clear behavior expectations for students and monitor student behavior throughout the class and school campus

· Reinforce school-wide rules and expectations in the classroom and elsewhere on campus.

Qualifications:

· Must have completed a minimum of 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university

· Must have a valid CA Substitute Teaching Permit

· Must possess strong classroom management skills that promote the learning of all students

· A demonstrated commitment to protect the safety, interests, and rights of all students in the classroom and on the school grounds

· Experience and interest in working with underserved populations

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $30.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
