Job description

Under immediate supervision, assists dentists during examination and treatment of patients; prepares clinical areas, instruments, and materials; under general supervision, provides imaging services. Utilize four-handed dentistry; periodontal charting and instruct patients in oral hygiene.

Job Duties

• Reviews patient schedule and sets up floor accordingly; remains visible in treatment area to assist doctors as needed; insures efficient flow between patients and procedures.

• Prepares work areas and instrument trays for procedures; keeps work areas neat and orderly; cleans, oils and sets up necessary equipment; dusts and disinfects operators; sterilizes instruments.

• Utilizes four-handed dentistry; completes periodontal charting and instructs patients in oral hygiene; assists with bonding, removing o-rings, ligature ties, tying and untying patients, cementing bands and attachments.

• Maintains steam and dry heat sterilization area by preparing solutions, cleaning and stocking for daily use; tests sterilization equipment and dispose of bio-hazardous waste material.

• Performs dental imaging as needed.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Additional training beyond high school diploma; supplemented with six (6) months of experience or training as a dental assistant.

The University will require all students, faculty and staff to obtain a booster vaccine dose for the spring semester, This applies to:

• All adults over the age of 18 years who completed their vaccine series with Pfizer or Moderna at least 6 months ago.
• Those who received the J&J vaccine at least two months ago.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
