Job Opening Summary

The Development Associate will assist the Director of Development, Annual Giving with developing a strategy for UF Health employee giving and the annual Raising Hope at Work campaign. Serves as unit liaison for key strategic areas, which could include UF Health Jacksonville, Proton Therapy Institute, Scripps and central Florida partners. Manages and supports selected fundraising activities, including direct mail, telemarketing, e-communications and event planning. This position will collaborate with UF Health Communications and plan, coordinate and execute several multi-channel campaigns for diverse audiences while also tracking and analyzing program metrics to set goals and develop future strategies. Responsible for providing advanced project management for the Development Office by independently formulating and implementing plans to achieve desired departmental objectives related to Shands' Core Services. Eighty percent of time is spent exercising discretion, independent judgment and problem solving to manage project tasks, which include the use of dynamic databases and the production of high-level documents, which require a high level of PC software skills. Prior annual giving, project management and/or marketing experience preferred.

Job Opening Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or equivalent combination of job-related experience required.
  • One to three years of fundraising, project management and/or marketing experience.
  • Ability to work well with internal and external constituents with excellent customer service.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication and computer skills required.
  • Previous experience preferred in project management with experience coordinating special events and campaigns.
  • Independent use of personal computer applications, including word processing and data spreadsheets.
  • Fundraising or marketing experience preferred.


Motor Vehicle Operator Designation (Required):

  • Employees in this position will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a "frequent driver."


NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.
