Job description
Provides diabetes education, consultation and evaluation of patient and program outcomes.
Independently writes, communicates, and implements teaching interventions for patients, families, significantothers.
Delivers educational material using teaching principals and a variety of formats for new pediatric inpatients and outpatients in group and individual sessions.
Delivers educational material appropriate for identified needs utilizing knowledge of growth and developmentfor outpatients in group and individual sessions.
Assists to maintain diabetes supplies.
Provides back up and assists other staff as necessary.
Minimum Education:
Associate’s degree in Nursing OR Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics
- Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education.
Required Skills:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must beable to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications/ Licenses:
Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
Registered Dietitian Certification OR Registered Nurse (RN) in State of Michigan
Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) (within 2 years of hire)
