Devereux California is a local and national nonprofit providing residential, supported living, vocational, and clinical services for adults with developmental disabilities in Santa Barbara County. Located in Lompoc, CA, this position is responsible for ensuring the safety of our individuals, while supporting them with self-help skills designed to encourage independence.

Responsibilities of the Direct Support Professional II include, but are not limited to:

• Effectively implementing individual behavioral support plans based on ABA principles
• Utilizing positive reinforcement and antecedent manipulation to increase appropriate behaviors
• Assisting, instructing, and supporting our individuals with daily living activities, including cooking, cleaning, budgeting, bill pay, grocery shopping, and personal hygiene
• Accompanying our individuals on community outings, medical appointments, and other activities, as directed
• Must be willing to work with adults with challenging and/or aggressive behaviors
• Must be comfortable assisting with hygiene
• Must be willing to work at least one weekend shift per week

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree in relevant field preferred
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
• One (1) year of experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities required

Must have or be willing to obtain upon hire:

• Direct Support Professional Year 1 Certification by the State of California
• Direct Support Professional Year 2 Certification by the State of California
• Registered Behavioral Technician Certification by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board

Additionally, you must be able to successfully pass required clearances, complete 40+ hours of paid new hire trainings, and have a strong passion for supporting individuals with special needs.
