Director of Business Development- Exempt

The Director of Business Development leads the team responsible for strategic planning and growth objective execution at strategic OEM accounts. The candidate leads the assessment and validation of customer needs and coordinates the necessary plans with the operating team and executives to achieve overall customer satisfaction.

Strategy
: Understands aerospace and defense markets and trends and the complete value chain for target product/capability; OEM, Tier 1, Tier 2, raw materials etc. Understands the short and long term commercial and operational needs of core customers. Provides clear communication to the Hanwha Aerospace USA operations and global leadership teams on how the business can align with our strategic customer’s vision. Conducts research and gathers data on key customers (operations and investment strategy, technology roadmaps, engine development, engine program/volume) and the competitive set. Works with his/her team to identify new opportunities that position Hanwha as a market leader, for similar productions/service offerings, across multiple core customers. Understands strength and weakness in portfolios and formulates detailed plans to improve the business’s position over time.

Relationship Management: Builds strong and long-lasting relationships with customer executive, purchasing and operations teams. Frequent interaction with working and executive level contacts; consistently present at the customer. Ability to create introductions and cultivate relationships that enhance co-worker and management team collaboration with the customer. Frequent collaboration with Hanwha Aerospace global; making sure that core customer needs are met in entirety. Manages marketing channels to solidify strategic customer’s view of local and global value.

Growth: Works to identify new growth opportunities that create incremental value for Hanwha Aerospace. Leads team to negotiate and close new service/manufacturing deals at strategic accounts. Self-sufficient proposal and campaign plan development for key pursuits; acts a quarterback for big deal closure – coordinating with various internal stakeholders. Works with P&L leaders to address any long-term portfolio concerns. Develops strategies to capture/invoice scope creep that don’t stress customer relationships. Understands pricing, not from a cost-plus view, but a market and key account view.

Analytics: Responsible for strategic account short and long-term demand forecasts, which includes analysis around build rates, pricing and pipeline probabilities.

Management: Responsible for developing team of direct reports. Creates a work culture based on A.C.E. principles that is fostered through a fun/collaborative environment. Work with leadership and HR function, on a broader basis, to help strengthen culture across the business.

Other:

Frequent engagement and collaboration with Engineering, Operations, Estimating and Leadership teams

25-50% Domestic & International Travel required

Must be a “US Person” as defined by US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR related data.

Fluency with Microsoft Office: EXCEL, Word, PowerPoint

Must be able to lift, push, or pull at least 25 lbs.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree in business or engineering/operations preferred.
