The Opportunity:
Verona Pharma is currently recruiting a Director, Human Resources to join our team, reporting to the Senior Vice President, Human Resources. In the role of Director, Human Resources, you will be responsible for taking the lead on our HRIS Management (Namely), New Hire Orientation, and Benefit Administration, among other HR areas. Initial focus items will include partnering with SVP, HR on setting up the HR infrastructure, policies, and processes to ensure Verona is well-positioned to support our current staff and for our planned company growth.
You may be located anywhere in the eastern time zone (to ensure greater ease of partnering with our London office employees), however ideally in the local Raleigh area. You will periodically be required to go into the Raleigh office for key meetings, trainings, and other activities as needed.
To be successful in this role, you will be a proactive self-starter with excellent attention to detail and a customer-centric focus.
Responsibilities:
- Help create and maintain an environment to attract, develop and retain top talent by understanding Verona’s culture, addressing employee questions and concerns, driving process improvements and supporting the needs of the organization as a whole.
- Oversee all aspects of our US and UK employee benefits programs, including “shopping for plans,” open enrollment, vendor management, employee communications, and problem resolution.
- Serve as a consultant across the company on human resources-related issues, acting as an employee champion and change agent while supporting talent growth and development within the organization.
- Ensure people-operations matters such as visas and immigration-related issues, I-9s, workplace safety, contractor/consulting processing, and other processes and policies are handled accurately and consistently.
- Conduct research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics including turnover, retention from our Namely HRIS and develop programs and practices to address areas of concern.
- Support company compliance with federal, various state and local employment laws, including policy development, tracking and reporting.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field; preferential consideration given to SHRM or HRCI certifications (ex PHR and/or SHRM-CP).
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in Human Resources; pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
- Experience with an HRIS; experience with Namely is a plus.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of employees and leadership through one-on-one sessions, team meetings, polished presentations and email; ability to write complicated policies and processes in an easily understood format.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritize and multitask efficiently.
- Impeccable judgement in providing advice and counsel to employees and leadership.
- Team player with strong interpersonal and influencing skills at all levels, with ability to develop and maintain strong, effective internal customer/business partner relationships.
- Ability to effectively analyze data and utilize our HR systems to maintain accurate overviews of current and projected HR needs.
- Sense of urgency and accountability in day-to-day work.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
