Waldorf University is seeking an immediate
full-time Director of Catering, Events and Customer Relations. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Plant and Auxiliary Services and coordinates activities with Director of Dining Services as part of the Conference & Dining Services leadership team. Hours vary based on Events or Conferences Scheduled, but include evenings and weekends as needed. This is a 12 month, benefit eligible position.
Specific Responsibilities & Skills include, but are not limited to:
- Program Management – Responsible for operational oversight of all aspects of the catering and events programming on and off campus. Facilitate events to their safe and successful conclusion, coordinating the needs of the user, facilities set up staff, equipment and inventory management, training, and all other aspects of the program.
- Program Development & Promotion – Generate external and internal sales development including creation of marketing materials (with support of Marketing department). Seek opportunities for customer engagement through programs and events. Develop Voluntary Meal Plan Promotion and Sales.
- Supervision & Schedule Management – Oversee, schedule, and supervise the training of staff to enforce adherence to policies and procedures for safe and proper food handling and use of the facility equipment, building and grounds. Coordinate scheduling and advance planning for catering/event needs with Director of Dining for menu planning and execution.
- Budget Management – Able to assist in the development and adherence to budget guidelines needed for successful operation of the program. Responsible for tracking and reporting internal and external sales. Monitor and manage cost controls, pricing and billing in coordination with Director of Dining Services.
- Communication – Ability to communicate and coach students, staff, and partners in a positive and meaningful way. Field information requests from potential clients and develop marketing strategies to continue to grow departmental revenues.
- Committees - Serve on university committees representing Conference & Dining Services. Includes working with Student Senate and Student Activities groups.
Qualifications
- Experience with Food Service or Catering Service skills desired but will develop an outgoing excited personality.
- Positive attitude, willingness to work and the understanding of Food Service in this environment.
- Customer Service First mentality, qualified candidate always looks for ways to WOW clients.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 50lbs to waist level or a shared weight of 100lbs. Position is very physical requiring bending, pushing, pulling, climbing, walking, and will be in contact with chemicals used for cleaning
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
