Cottonwood Residential is a fully integrated real estate investment trust (REIT) that owns and manages apartment communities throughout the country with a relentless focus on delivering excellent service to our residents. Our corporate office is based in Salt Lake City, Utah. The majority of our social events, conferences, and meetings for our onsite associates and corporate teams are located in Salt Lake City throughout the year.

We are looking for a creative and dynamic team player to fill the position of Director of Events & Activities. This position will coordinate and manage conferences and events for the Company throughout the year as needed. This is a part-time, remote position that will require travel when planning events and conferences. As most events are held in the Salt Lake City area, the ideal candidate will be based in Salt Lake City or surrounding areas. If not based in Salt Lake City, the ability to frequently travel to Salt Lake City will be required. Additional travel to various locations will also be required as needed. Experience in planning a wide variety of events, specifically larger conferences with attendees of 150-200 plus, is preferred.

Qualifications & Responsibilities:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of small event and conference planning and management
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and planning skills with a strong ability to prioritize multiple and sometimes conflicting tasks
  • Ability to meet multiple and varying deadlines
  • Responsible for the planning and delivery of medium to large-scale high-level meetings and conferences
  • Act as liaison for patrons, vendors, speakers, and stakeholders throughout the event planning process
  • Coordinate and supervise all logistics and services including travel, hotel, dining, conference room facilities, audio/visual and tech support including set-up, tear-down, and close out processes
  • Communicate and coordinate with conference planning committee and clients
  • Contribute to design of conferences or small events as appropriate to best meet the conference/event goals and create an optimal conference experience for audience and stakeholders
  • Negotiate quotes and agreements with vendors and venues
  • Develop and manage overall conference budget including oversight of invoice review and reconciliation
  • Provide oversight of quality control, schedule, resources, and change management process
  • Produce post-event evaluation to provide guidance for future events
  • Ability to travel, including weekends
  • Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) experience required
