St. Catherine Laboure Parish, in the South Hills area of Pittsburgh,
is seeking to hire a full-time DIRECTOR OF YOUTH MINISTRY.

We are a large, vibrant Roman Catholic parish consisting of over 4200 families and over 12,000 members, encompassing the territories and church buildings of the former St. Joan of Arc Parish in South Park and the the former St. Louise de Marillac Parish in Upper St. Clair. Excellent facilities and a large number of young people provide significant opportunities to grow a thriving Youth Ministry program that can foster discipleship among high school age youth.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Create opportunities for discipleship and spiritual growth for high-school students,

including but not limited to: prayer, faith study, retreats, mission trips, service
projects, social events, pilgrimages, fundraising.

• Recruit, train and oversee adult volunteers of a Youth Ministry Leadership Team.
• Develop and maintain a presence in our parish community, in the large catholic

elementary school hosted by our parish (St. Louise de Marillac School), and in our
parish Faith Formation program for middle school students.

• Assist with catechesis for the 6th - 8th grade students of our parish, so as to both pass

on the faith and to develop a rapport that can draw these young people into high
school youth ministry.

• Develop a yearly plan for the Youth Ministry program including budgetary

requirements; and effectively administer that plan and work within the budget.

• Maintain an awareness of contemporary culture and current events particularly as they

pertain to teens, young adults and families. This should be combined with an
ability to understand how our Catholic Faith speaks to the relevant issues of our
time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be a fully initiated member of the Roman Catholic Church, in good standing, and

striving to fully live and embrace the Faith.

• A thorough understanding of the Catholic Faith and a desire and ability to convey the

Faith.

• A college degree and/or certification in youth ministry, theology, religious education,

or related field is preferred.

• Several years of experience in youth ministry is preferred, but experience in parish

ministry, campus ministry, or education will be considered.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule that will include nights and weekends
• Conform to the complete Diocese of Pittsburgh Safe Environment policies and

requirements.

• Dynamic personality that allows one to interact well with Youth, clergy, staff, parents,

and parishioners.

• Organizational and management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills so as to connect with youth and

communicate with parishioners and other parish staff.

• Proficiency with current technology (especially Microsoft Office; email platforms such

as Flocknote; and various popular social media platforms such as Facebook,
Instagram, etc.).
