Job Summary:
The Director of Web Strategy & Connected Commerce is responsible for driving the strategic growth of the web as a channel for business and a primary driver for brick-and-mortar traffic across the enterprise. The director will oversee web operations, production, and business planning for myNavyExchange.com, including user experience, analytics, site merchandising and marketing, content management, and promotions. This role will also be responsible for developing the web as a hub or resource for key businesses and patrons to research commerce and reducing end-to-end friction to allow patrons to start, continue, or end their journey online at any time.
This position will report to the VP of Consumer Marketing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads the development of the myNavyExchange.com site vision and translates it into a roadmap aligned with the financial, customer, and brand goals.
- Oversees the effective merchandising of products throughout the site to achieve demand/profit plans and improve customer experience.
- Develops and executes e-commerce strategies that improve the customer experience while increasing conversion rates, market share, key segments, and managing margin across all categories of business. Utilize data and analytics to inform decision-making.
- Forecasts e-commerce traffic, sales, and conversion on a monthly basis and provides weekly reports on e-commerce performance.
- Develops a testing plan to continually improve online and offline tactics, creative messaging, and landing page optimization to increase traffic growth and conversion.
- Lead site content and calendar development, including promotions, in collaboration with marketing to drive demand and customer acquisition objectives on the site.
- Manages the site merchandising process, site-wide navigation, and product page design and enhancements to drive engagement and conversion and improve the overall experience.
- Monitors and manages performance, providing insights to guide improvements and managing daily e-commerce operations, including online merchandising, operations, promotions, and content execution.
- Maintains expertise in the e-commerce/digital/web landscape and a working knowledge of online competitors, identifying web trends, category growth, and online growth opportunities.
- Develops and execute strategies/partnerships to increase the percentage of catalog with ratings/reviews and leverage ratings/reviews across media types and retail channels.
- Identifies performance trends across products and categories through data analysis and presents future improvement/development strategies. Analyze and observe pricing, messaging, functionality, and presentation on competing retail/brand sites and use findings to inform future strategies.
- Works cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, including Marketing, Merchandising, Planning, Creative, Information Technology, Distribution and Fulfillment, and Store Operations teams to develop and execute site initiatives and troubleshoot when needed.
- Recruits, trains, and develops key talent.
- Effectively communicate strategy to key stakeholders, executive committee, and field leadership.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
A total of 8 years of experience, consisting of the following:
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Three years of experience in corporate marketing and/or e-commerce work that enabled the candidate to gain knowledge of marketing/e-commerce techniques and methods.
OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: 1 year of academic study above the high school level may be substituted for 9 months of experience, up to a maximum of a four-year bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Marketing, or related field is required for 3 years of general experience.
AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Five years of progressive experience in e-commerce Merchandising and/or Marketing in a corporate retail environment that includes demonstrated performance with e-commerce platforms (ATG/Oracle Commerce a plus); using various web analytics tools for conversion into actionable data analysis and performance improvement; aptitude to define strategic visions, operationalize end delivery, and monitor and pivot actions that drive prioritization of investments through quantitative business justification; and strong leadership with proven ability to build and manage a high performing teams. Exceptional verbal and written communicator with all levels within the organization to foster strong working relationships.
The preferred candidate understands front-end behavioral analytics, user experience (UX), and customer experience (CX).
