Dozer Operator at Dawes Portal
Accountabilities:
Performs all duties and activities in a manner that conforms to site specific safety requirements, company policy, state and federal regulations.
- Operates dozer to gouge, cut, level and distribute earth to build roadways, prepare benches, etc. Maneuvers tractor by moving levers and depressing pedals so as to make the right depth of cut. Drives dozer in successive passes to raise or lower to desired grade which may be marked by grade stakes or provided by hand signals.
- May connect hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage or power takeoff shaft to provide power.
- Mounts and dismounts equipment by climbing or descending the boarding ladder or steps.
- May operate scarifier (ripper) or similar machinery to loosen soil or ore.
- Performs other duties as required.
- May service equipment and perform routine repairs.
- Assist mechanic with repair work.
Requirements:
- Must be able to judge depth of cut by feeling lever, listening and feeling for stalling action. Also understand the workings of a dozer so as to operate properly and within tolerances as well as to perform preventive maintenance and servicing which may be required.
- Know the Safe Job Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, company safety policies, and applicable rules and regulations.
Working Environment/Physical Activities:
- This position requires the operator to possess the dexterity to work and operate machinery and equipment. The operator must constantly be attentive to the changing geological conditions and surrounding environment.
Education, Qualifications and Training:
- Class: 07 Surface Coal Miner (West Virginia)
- Annual 8 hour refresher training
- On-the-job experience
- Vocational training (optional)
- Other qualifications as required by regulations and/or management
