Essential Functions

  • Work on energy transmission drafting and design projects.
  • Create plans and/or drafting deliverables for infrastructure and utilities.
  • Create overall project sheet layout and criteria.
  • Utilizes advance AutoCAD skills to setup projects and relationships between drawing and other files.
  • Create 3D objects in Civil 3D such as points, surfaces, alignments and profiles.
  • Understand and mange User and Geographic Coordinate Systems.
  • Follow established technical specifications to prepare drawings and assist in design drafting.
  • Consult with engineers regarding model accuracy and design parameters.
  • Works under the supervision of the CAD Coordinator.
  • Works with drafting team, CAD Coordinator, Chief Designer/Engineers, and Project Managers.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Work Environment

  • Duties are largely performed in an office.
  • Office work may include prolonged seated tasks, extended keyboarding, and use of computer screen.
  • May be requested to work overtime and weekends.
  • Position requires travel (expected to be less than 10%); valid driver?s license and acceptable DMV record required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use stairs, use hands, reach, talk and hear.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Minimum Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to demonstrate all key qualifications of a Drafter I.
  • Knowledge and understanding of discipline-specific criterion.
  • Experience with site layout, utility design, boundary and easement plans, alignment sheets and details
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
  • Must have excellent computer/internet skills and a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
  • Excellent organizational skills are preferred.
  • Ability to work well independently, works with all levels of management, prioritize tasks, resolve problems and follow through.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be a team player.
  • Desire to learn and grow personally and professionally.
  • Strong work ethic.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Advance level of training and experience using MicroStation as a primary function of work.
  • Intermediate or Advanced level of training and experience using AutoCAD/Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Knowledge of civil engineering, surveying and/or experience working with engineering firms.
  • Associate of Arts or Science in Engineering, Drafting, Design, Graphic Arts, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-7 years of primary project work experience.
