Driver

Collects refuse or recyclable material from containers and dumps into truck, on a designated route.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Will drive truck within a designated route and frequently push/pull bins from enclosures.
• Will collect refuse or recyclable materials by operating hoisting device that raises bin or container into truck.
• Will transport load to disposal area.
• Will complete pre and post trip inspection.
• Will communicate with dispatch on an ongoing basis.
• Must maintain good customer relations.
• Must maintain cleanliness of vehicle at all times.
• Must be available for shifts scheduled on weekends or holidays
• Performs other duties as assigned by management

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Must have a valid Class “A” or “B” California Commercial Drivers License and have a clean driving record. This position requires the review of motor vehicle records (MVRs) prior to or during consideration of application as well as ongoing review through California’s Electronic Pull Notice (EPN) Program
• Must be able to communicate in English and have ability to understand and complete route sheets.
• Must have ability to follow instructions

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

• Must have one (1) year of Commercial driving experience, required.

PHYSICAL:

• Must have ability to operate a truck and must be able to continuously lift up to 70 lbs.
• Must be able to climb in and out of the truck cab frequently.
• Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions (heat, rain, wind, snow, fog).
• Will be exposed to changing road conditions and closures.
• Will be exposed to moderate noise and dust levels.
