Job description
The goal of the DS METCO Family and Community Liaison is to empower and support the students and families of the DS METCO program. The liaison is responsible for assisting the METCO Coordinator in fostering trustful relationships with families; expanding family involvement in the academic, social and emotional development of their children; and further cultivating an inclusive school environment. Approximately 4-5 hours per weekEssential Responsibilities: Coordinate the K-12 Family Friend program across all four schools.Assist with communication to families regarding school events, workshops, orientations, open houses, etc.Collaborate with METCO Coordinator to provide resources to families as needed.Support home-school communication as needed (via phone calls, consultation, etc.).Participate directly in DS and Boston community events. Maintain a database of DS METCO alumni and families.Assist with maintaining mentorships between alumni and current students.Assist with planning fundraisers.Assist with grant writing.Qualifications: Passion for equity in education and increasing achievement for all studentsBachelors DegreeExperience with youth and community engagementStrong oral and written communication skillsBasic computer skills-MS Word and Excel The Liaison shall be paid $35.00 per hour not to exceed $5000 per school year.A log of hours and tasks must be maintained and submitted to the Director of METCO for review prior to payment.
