Organization: Boys & Girls Club of Portage County (non-profit, youth service)

Hours: Part-Time, average 10-20 hours/week (varying between 8am-6pm as needed)

Location: Berard Center & other Club Sites

Reports to: Director of Workforce Development

Position Summary:

The Esports & Technology Coordinator will assist the Director of Workforce Development in providing workforce readiness programming for the youth of the community through innovative technology experiences including Esports, virtual reality systems, robotics, and other platforms. The ETC will develop, coordinate, and lead technology-based programming for youth and teens that is engaging and helps raise awareness of career opportunities and skills related to technology. The ETC will also collaborate with other Club staff to help build a robust Esports/gaming environment at Club sites throughout the organization.

Qualifications:

• Able to be First Aid/CPR Certified (within first 90 days of employment)
• Must have a Valid State Driver’s License
• High school diploma or a GED is required
• Extensive knowledge of targeted Esports games (e.g., Smash Bros., Rocket League, Mario Kart, Fortnite, League of Legends) and competitions
• At least 1 year of experience in Esports/gaming (tournament competition experience preferred) and/or virtual reality gaming systems
• High level of professionalism
• Exceptional communication skills
• Technological competency; must be willing to learn skills related to MS Office, Canva, Zoom, and other programs as deemed necessary
• Must be able to pass a reference check and background check
• Must be able to meet deadlines

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

• Sitting, standing or walking for up to 8 hours a day
• Pushing or lifting of up to 50lbs
• Ability to handle high noise levels for extended periods of time
• Ability to use virtual reality headsets, including Oculus©, for a reasonable amount of time

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of Esports and technology focused program activities

• Identify and/or develop Esports curriculum for youth & teens
• Provide coaching, development, and guidance to youth participating in Esports & Technology related programming
• Assist in the scheduling, promotion, and recruitment of participants for Esports programming and special events (e.g., tournaments)
• Work with other Club staff to train, coach, and model Esports program implementation
• Maintain knowledge of latest trends in areas of Esports

• Maintain Esports and technology equipment hardware and software to ensure it is safe, age-appropriate, and secure
• Track attendance and outcomes of Esports programming
• assure the conduct, safety, and development of Club members
• Ensure Esports/Tech programming achieves target goals, objectives, and deliverables within specified timelines
• Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of program areas as necessary

• Support other Club Staff in meeting program goals, objectives, and outcomes
• Cultivates positive relationships with Club members, parents and/or guardians, school personnel, supervisors, staff, and volunteers by communicating effectively
• Assist in marketing programming to target audiences and organizational partners in the community to build support for and participation in programs
• Other duties and assignments as deemed necessary or important by their supervisor
