We are seeking an Electrical Helper who is a collaborative team member with a friendly work style to work in the Jacksonville, Florida area. The position requires utilizing knowledge of electrical systems to solve technical problems, communicate interactively and troubleshoot to successfully complete projects. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is willing to learn and will ensure the highest standards of accuracy, excellence, and quality of work while producing results quickly and correctly.

Brooks Building Solutions has been in business since 1984 and currently has 70 associates, 32 of which are in the service department. The primary cities in our market are Jacksonville, Gainesville, Tallahassee and South Florida. Our main office is in Jacksonville with satellite offices in Tallahassee and South Florida.

We provide mechanical and electrical services, building automation, HVAC equipment and parts to the commercial building space. Our clients include office buildings, healthcare, K-12 and higher education, government, and industrials. We maintain, repair, and extend the life of the most expensive systems in their buildings that also consumes about 75% or more of the energy budget, which is typically their largest controllable operating expense. We have the tools, technology and people to optimize energy efficiency while providing a healthy indoor environment that is an important part of their financial and sustainability goals

Outcomes:

  • Successfully maintain project schedules, labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Survey, troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, circuits, and equipment.
  • Utilize blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturers’ installation guides to complete repairs/installation requirements.
  • Install, maintain, and make repairs to all electrical distribution systems and associated electrical equipment.
  • Inspect and test components of electrical systems including transformers, transfer switches, gensets, and switch gear/panelboards.
  • Fill out start-up documentation, commissioning, invoices and other documents as required for project.
  • Provide input to sales staff as requested or required to assist in the accurate estimation, design, installation, start-up and commissioning.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of high school diploma/GED.
  • 1-3 years of experience in electrical and controls equipment and troubleshooting and repair.
  • Acceptable proof of competent experience.
  • Any factory authorized training or trained by major manufacturer-not required, but preferred.
  • Other technical experience such as military, on-the-job training programs, etc. may meet these requirement as determined by management.
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code, NFPA 70e and EM 385 a plus.
  • Knowledge of Fluke, Dent Logging tools for commissioning a plus.
  • Understanding of Word and Excel needed.
