Overview:
Reporting to the IT Director, the Clinical Applications Specialist will concentrate on proving robust, informed, practical leadership and support to our physicians and clinical staff through comprehensive management of our practice management and electronic medical records systems. The specialist focuses on the planning, analysis, design, testing, development, implementation, maintenance, training and communications related to the clinical systems to provide consistent reliable tools for our clinical staff. The Specialist is the primary 2nd-level support contact for clinical applications and is responsible for problem solving and vendor engagement. The Specialist supports the clinical trainers, and also offers hands-on support and training for our physicians. This role is highly visible and requires meticulous adherence to compliance and confidentiality policies. The specialist will have a major role in implementing EPIC for our Emerson affiliates.
Responsibilities:
- Business Owner of clinical systems, inclusive of EPIC, ModMed EMA, and Athena Practice Management
- Leads and manages projects to transition acquired and new practices to platform practice management or electronic medical record systems
- Responsible for maintaining issues list, job aids and business documentation, weekly status reports, and subject-matter information on Sharepoint
- Liaison between clinical staff and IT department for coordinating aspects of planning, analysis, design, testing, development, implementation, maintenance, communication, and evaluation of existing or new EMR functionality
- Travels to business locations for training, implementation, and workflow analysis.
- Researches emergent technologies and identifies ways to automate current processes or make necessary system enhancements/changes to streamline processes.
- Attends meetings, participates in workgroups, and/or serves on committees as needed.
- Provides guidance and support of the development of application training programs
- Works with EMR system programmers, EMR vendor and/or in-house IT staff to modify/enhance EMR
- Builds, tests, debugs, and supports applications throughout the testing and implementation phases.
- Writes technical documentation and/or workflow processes.
Bachelor’s degree required; preferred in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field- Experience with implementing Epic Healthcare Systems preferred
