As a Mechanical Engineer I on the Genesys Aerosystems on the Design Services team, you will get to provide individual technical contribution in the development of advanced avionics and flight control systems. You will research, develop, and design mechanical and electrical components for our products and systems. You will also provide technical oversight of our mechanical and electrical design and drafting activities. We are looking for an individual who is self-motivated, responsive, flexible and able to succeed within a highly collaborative and fast paced environment by performing the following duties, under the supervision and mentorship of senior engineering leaders:

  • Design, fabrication and debug of prototype mechanical hardware with a focus on board level design for avionics systems.
  • Reviews and evaluates product requests from customer and formulates conceptual design to meet customer requirements.
  • Reviews technical documentation and evaluates proposed product design changes to determine the impact on overall product lifecycle.
  • Coordinates with Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Program Management, and other supporting functions in order to accurately structure new products and document product changes as part of the product development, continuous improvement, and sustaining engineering processes.
  • Analyzes project proposal to determine feasibility, producibility, cost, and production time, and discusses proposal with engineers and other personnel.
  • Quality and Manufacturing liaison, management of transition to production, MRB, general support for manufacturing and quality.
  • Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.
  • Test and measurement using standard test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, temperature probes, vibration probes.
  • Component investigations with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Creation of technical documentation. Part number assignment, mod code determination, BOM structure and hierarchy.
  • Able to develop Product Acceptance Test Procedures for production to verify proper functionality of products.
  • You may also conduct research and prepare reports based on findings, to include recommendations or alternative proposals for action.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience with Mechanical, Electromechanical, and Electrical.
  • Basic understanding of industry standard practices related to Mechanical and Electrical design and drafting.
  • Working knowledge of quality systems and compliance in a regulated industry.
  • Experience with process development, documentation and implementation.
  • Able to quickly gain an understanding of BOM hierarchy, including hardware and software components.
  • Able to quickly gain an understanding of product release cycle as it relates to the creation and change management of parts and BOM structures.
  • Aviation industry experience and familiarity with FAA certification preferred.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Hold an accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other related engineering degrees.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or related experience may be considered.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Computer skills, familiarity with basic shop tools and/or machine equipment, and an aptitude and understanding of basic electrical, mechanical, optical, or software engineering principles. Requires technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% to support projects.
