TITLE: Engineering Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: Engineering

SUPERVISOR: Chief Engineer

SUMMARY: To maintain and monitor the entire property and all equipment. To ensure the property’s appearance is in top condition. Continually work towards and support the improvement of engineering service to both guests and associates.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operates and maintains all HVAC and refrigeration, electrical distribution, and central physical plant equipment on the property.
• Monitors and maintains inventory control of supplies for department.
• Monitors and maintains HotSOS (Electronic Work Order and Guest Service System).
• Performs human resource functions for staff, including supervision, performance evaluations and discipline, training, scheduling, and payroll.
• Assists any engineering mechanic with problems beyond their expertise.
• Works collaboratively with Rooms departments to manage and coordinate guest room repairs and maintenance.
• Estimates material and manpower for projects carried on in-house.
• Coordinates outside contract labor when necessary and assists Director in developing scope and monitoring project performance.
• Works with Accounting in scheduling and budgeting Capital Expenditure items.
• Tours property daily. Reports any problems to Dir of Engineering and / or resolves independently.
• Updates all checklists in accordance with current requirements and equipment inventory.
• Performs locksmith functions for the property.
• Ensure compliance with property Safety Standards, OSHA and audits. Serve as Safety Committee Member.
• Be able to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and offer assistance with guest problems.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering, such as shop clean up, training, assisting in preventive maintenance programs.
• Report to work on time and in full uniform.
• Train and instruct other members of the staff through sharing of knowledge and skills.
• Operate as an independent mechanic by analyzing problems, identifying courses of action, and implementing solutions with available resources and to a high degree of quality.
• Set an example of continuous self-development.
• Have a working knowledge of fire sprinkler and emergency power systems.
• Be available for any emergencies and act in an engineering capacity to protect our guests and associates and preserve the building and its systems during the emergency.
• Continuously look for conditions which may endanger associates or guests of the hotel and to take immediate action to correct any hazardous conditions found.
• Maintains a working knowledge of all federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
