STEWARTVILLE CARE CENTER - JOB DESCRIPTION ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNICIAN – POSITION SUMMARY: Perform housekeeping and cleaning functions to maintain facility standards. QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in a nursing home setting is advantageous. Knowledge of or ability to learn position policies, procedures, practices and equipment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Ability to perform cleaning procedures in accordance with facility policy. 2. Ability to observe waste disposal procedures in accordance with facility policies. 3. Ability to follow directions. 4. Ability to assist in the proper care use of housekeeping equipment. 5. Ability to identify and report any equipment malfunction to supervisor. 6. Ability to report any observed area in poor repair to supervisor. 7. Ability to dispense soap, paper and other housekeeping supplies. 8. Ability to attend training programs as requested. 9. Ability to observe relevant infection control procedures. 10. Ability to follow Resident's Rights policies at all times. 11. Ability to perform in: an inside environment, normal temperatures, adequate lighting, possible exposure to infectious diseases, blood borne pathogens and unpleasant sights and smells. 12. Ability to hear, speak, feel and communicate to perform essential job functions. 13. Ability to position, transfer, assist & lift to perform essential job functions. 14. Ability to adapt to emergency situations. 15. Ability to use good communication to interact with residents, staff and departments to promote resident well-being and motivate others. 16. Ability to maintain a safe and sanitary environment. 17. Ability to abide by the facility's policies, procedures and practices. 18. Ability to attend as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality. 19. Ability to perform other duties as directed. Health Information Access Function: The Housekeeper will be notified of and resident who may have a communicable disease, which may endanger the Housekeeper’s health while performing his/her duties.'
