Columbia College Chicago a private urban institution of over 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students, four-year College offering a distinctive curriculum that blends liberal arts, creative and media arts and business is currently searching for an Evening/Weekend Receptionist in the Dance Department.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Facilities and Operations, the Receptionist is responsible for providing a range of administrative and operations support to the Academic Program and Dance Presenting Series of the Dance Department, and the faculty, students, and patrons of the Dance Center.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Greet all visitors including faculty, staff, students, guests, and others in a positive, enthusiastic, and approachable manner ensuring all visitors feel welcomed.
  • Provide front-desk services such as answering phone, taking, and forwarding messages for faculty and staff. Address students’ and guests’ needs.
  • Assist with Open Call Audition, following up with prospective students, making copies, taking out and/or stowing equipment.
  • Serve as a box office associate, assisting students, faculty, staff and patrons with ticket purchases and sales to all Dance Center performances (and occasional additional CCC events), as well as working pick-up for Dance performances. Involves cash-handling.
  • Maintain spreadsheet with Dance Presenting Series donations, assist with donor correspondence, acknowledgements, and premium distributions.
  • Assist with organizing and digitizing archival materials.
  • Check-out equipment like digital audio equipment, video cameras, DVDs and the like as well as print materials for student.
  • Assist students in reserving rehearsal space; manage rehearsal spaces.
  • Assist with performances and rental events as required.
  • Report maintenance and housekeeping issues that require attention via 360Facility
  • Assist with maintaining equipment in studios
  • Forward requests for supply orders and other appropriate issues to the Operations Director.
  • Work with Security guard to close the building including but not limited to informing students the building is closing, collecting media carts, managing lost & found items, storing yoga equipment, and ensuring the studios and the front office are ready to open the following day.
  • Perform other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned or required.
Qualifications


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in administration and/or reception preferred.
  • Strong organizational, administrative and customer service skills required.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, navigate steps and lift 25 lbs. required.
  • Knowledge of dance and/or theater required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
