Job description

Great River Rescue is seeking a full time Executive Director of our nonprofit organization. Great River Rescue is a 501c3 dedicated to transitioning dogs and cats to loving homes, serving as a community resource, and advocating for kind, responsible pet care. Our award-winning volunteer program, committed staff, and recently renovated shelter is located in the beautiful Northwoods of Bemidji, Minnesota.

This position is primarily responsible for:

  • Overseeing the day to day operations of the shelter; leading a team of employees and volunteers
  • Maintaining the fiscal health of the organization through grants and fundraising
  • Furthering the mission of Great River Rescue by garnering support in the community and surrounding areas
  • Supporting the Board of Directors in its governance activities to assure nonprofit standards in accountability and transparency

A successful Executive Director for Great River Rescue will:

  • Have a four year degree in nonprofit management, business, public administration, or similar field or equivalent nonprofit management experience
  • Demonstrate skilled leadership and management capabilities
  • Possess exemplary writing and communication skills
  • Cultivate community relationships that positively impact the organization
