Facilities Assistant
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
REPORTS TO
Chief Operations Officer.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Facilities Assistant will support Facilities Management by working to ensure work related to the repair, preventative maintenance, and improvement of school facilities is properly communicated internally to all appropriate staff.
QUALIFICATION PROFILE
CERTIFICATION / LICENSE
Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
EDUCATION
High School diploma or equivalency.
EXPERIENCE
Three to five years of progressive experience in a large organization.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
- Ability to independently carry out work as assigned by the Chief Operations Officer or designee.
- Ability to efficiently schedule and coordinate meetings and events.
- Ability to take minutes of facility meetings and correspondence, reports, etc.
- Ability to establish and maintain complex files and record systems.
- Ability to compose clear and correct letters and reports.
- Ability to process paperwork accurately and efficiently.
- Ability to relate positively to staff members and outside vendors or contractors.
- Ability to perform data and word processing functions.
- Ability to perform basic bookkeeping duties.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Under the direction of his supervisor, plans, schedules and coordinates work assignments.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of information as needed.
- Transmits and explains supervisor’s directives to designated persons, and follows up for compliance, completeness, and conformance to deadlines.
- Performs special assignments as directed.
- Assists Facilities Management in the maintaining of overtime records of custodial and temporary help employees.
- Assists Facilities Management in maintaining active custodial, substitute, and temporary help lists. Schedules
substitutes as necessary including floating custodian assignments.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Additional duties may be assigned as appropriate by the Chief of Operations or designee.
EQUIPMENT
- Uses personal computer, printer, copier, and other standard office equipment.
- Access to districtwide work order software.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Occasional travel to all school district buildings and functions.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
SALARY & BENEFITS
- Salary and benefits as set forth in the Local 1186 collective bargaining agreement.
- Paygrade 6B
WORK SCHEDULE
Work schedule as set forth in Local 1186 collective bargaining agreement.
UNION AFFILIATION
Local 1186, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.
