  • License: shall have a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia) when services are performed onsite on VA property.
  • Board Certification/Eligibility: All physicians shall be board certified and/or eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine and be currently certified by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Candidate’s physicians shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the requirements, Candidate shall provide verifiable evidence of all educational and training experiences including any gaps in educational history.
  • Shall provide ACLS, BLS, EHR certifications.
  • valid DEA certificate from any state.
  • physicians shall be Board Certified and/or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Practice

Requirements:

  • All Candidate MOD(s) shall be board certified and/or eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
  • Candidate MODs, as appropriate and within scope of practice/privileging, shall be responsible for providing general medicine care to hospitalized patients, including, but not limited to:
  • Candidate Physician acts as Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) during non-administrative hours.
  • Candidate physicians shall review all admissions to inpatient hospital care recommended by Mid-level providers. Every admission to inpatient care shall have a person-to-person hand-off/hand-over from the admitting provider to a responsible member of the admitting team. The Medical Center has a 27-bed inpatient unit.
  • Assess, evaluate, diagnose, and initially treat patients of who present in the Urgent Care Clinic with any symptom, illness, injury, or condition and provide services necessary to ameliorate minor illnesses or injuries and stabilize patients with major illnesses or injuries and to assess all patients to determine if additional care is necessary.
  • Initial evaluation, treatment and management of urgent care patients presenting with any symptom, illness, injury or condition.
  • Initial evaluation, treatment, and management for Veterans whose acute medical, surgical, or psychiatric illness require a higher level of care than that available in the outpatient Primary Care, Behavioral Health or Specialty Care setting to prevent deterioration of the clinical condition and facilitate either admission to the inpatient acute care unit or transfer to a higher level of care.
  • physicians will direct the care of the patient and provide treatment and stabilization, as indicated. UCC staff, including the staff consultants, and other ancillary staff, will be utilized as directed by the UCC physician to treat and stabilize the patient.
