Summit Orange Divison currently has an open position for a 1st Shift Field Applications Engineer. Summit Interconnect is a manufacturer of advanced technology printed circuit boards with a specific focus on complex rigid and rigid-flex product with unique expertise in RF/Microwave applications.

Position Summary: The primary responsibility of the Field Applications Engineer is to work with our customers in person and through correspondence to present Summit technical capabilities and promote good design for manufacturability practices based on industry standards and Summits capabilities. Must be able to effectively work with Engineering and Sales departments to define improvements, address market opportunities and resolve customer issues.

Responsibilities:

1. Establish relationships, trust with the customer, and become the go-to expert for all of their technical inquiries.

2. Deep understanding of customer processes, industry standards and industry trends.

3. Drive Y/Y growth of design wins, technology breadth and served customer base.

4. Assist the regional sales in assessing potential applications of Summits products to meet our customer needs.

5. Develop and maintain relationships at multiple levels in the customer base to position Summit as a strategic partner to the customer.

6. Deliver accurate technical information to our customers.

7. Identify customers need and sales opportunities to help promote future growth.

8. Help customers troubleshoot their systems and solve their technical issues where possible.

9. Ensures that the product application/solution is functioning according to specifications.

10. Analyzes and interprets results, utilizes this information to accelerate qualification of products and resolution of issues.

11. Ability to engage with sales to provide technical understanding and training of the process and applications relating to customers.

12. Manage multiple concurrent projects and ensure timely support and execution of assigned tasks and action items.

13. Ensure clear and accurate external and internal reporting and communication.

14. Effectively communicate with all sales team members to promote the business needs of the territory to foster growth.

15. Maintain professional business relationships within target accounts.

16. Provide status of ongoing projects and future projects

Education/Skills:

1. Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent education and work experience plus 10+ years of field applications experience with consistent track record of results.

2. Excellent understanding of PCB manufacturing process.

3. Fifteen plus years professional experience in PCB manufacturing, design, sales and/or management preferred.

4. Engineering design and problem-solving skills.

5. Sufficient business acumen to blend together technical and business activities to assist in growing sales in the assigned territory.

6. Excellent communication and technical presentation skills, both verbal and written.

7. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects and customers.

8. A self-starter with a history of driving projects to completion under tight deadlines.

9. Creative thinking abilities to solve problems that may arise in production.

10. Positive, focused and professional in all internal and external communication and interactions.

11. Ability to influence customers a plus.

12. Microsoft Office proficient.
