Job Overview:
FP&A Business Partners at MVP have an active role to play in supporting their functional leadership teams in making informed decisions. In addition to budgeting, forecasting, and analysis, the FP&A partner must have a strategic mindset and desire to be actively engaged with their assigned functional areas. There are four key desired traits: Ability to build strategic engagement.
Ability to develop strategic insight. Ability to communicate effectively (using modern visualization tools).
Ability to embrace change Building strong relationships with stakeholders is fundamental to MVP’s FP&A Business Partners, to ensure effective engagement, and secure a seat at the decision-making table. FP&A Business Partners are expected to provide insightful analysis that has relevance and impact, going beyond traditional financial data / reporting. They should look ahead and embody the MVP Way (“be curious”), thinking outside the box. In short, the health insurance market and industry landscape are changing at a rapid pace and FP&A Business partners can play an invaluable role in supporting MVP leaders to achieve success.

Responsibilities
  • Works with the business to understand needs/desires/goals/strategies & problems (and how to help prioritize opportunities for improvement)
  • Ensures business partner perspective / efforts are grounded in facts and data
  • Effectively communicates the story behind the numbers in terms business partners understand
  • Proactively suggests analysis for the Center of Excellence to model
  • Makes practical recommendations based on analysis
  • Constructively reviews and refines business partner assumptions
  • Asks questions that efficiently lead to identification of root cause of problems
  • Develops practical and acceptable compromises when negotiating
  • Effectively prioritizes business problems based on urgency and relevance
  • Clarifies decision trade-offs to internal customers
  • Discusses financial performance in terms of the financial implications and business activities
  • Generates multiple options to solve a problem and identifies the most effective solution
Requirements and qualifications:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Required Skills: Advanced MS Excel, PowerPoint and other MS Office Suite skills (Certification Required)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, Financial principles, Advanced Financial modelling skills and Accounting and Financial software programs
  • Ability to develop a strong understanding of the business
  • Ability to build partnerships, influence decisions and work in a collaborative style
  • Takes initiative and executes independently
  • Demonstrates willingness to change opinion when presented with new or contrary information
  • Ability to explain and provide context around statistical methodology
Education/ Experience
  • 5 + years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor BSc or Masters MSc degree in Finance, Economics, Business-related study or Computer Sciences.
Maintains partnerships with:
  • Data scientists in FP&A Center of Excellence hub
  • Senior business leaders and functional heads
