Job Description

The equipment mechanic services and repairs medium and heavy-duty gasoline and diesel-driven vehicles, trailers, and motorized equipment which make up the City of Lynn Haven fleet. The equipment mechanic must be skilled with air/hydraulic brakes, suspensions, engine transmissions, electronics, and accessories.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, some post-secondary automotive training, and at least one year of dealer-level or large facility experience. Preferred experience includes extensive knowledge and National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in diesel and gasoline engines. An unrestricted driver's license and a clean driving record, a strong technical performance record, and strong physical dexterity and stamina to get the job done are required. Candidates must be able to work productively in a fast-paced team environment and must have a positive attitude, professional appearance, great communication skills, and the ability to deliver world class customer service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Diagnoses issues based on experience, analysis, and testing
• Performs routine service inspections or tests and completes standard maintenance jobs
• Repairs gasoline and diesel-driven vehicles and motorized equipment
• Maintains cleanliness of vehicles and surroundings while performing service or repairs
• Maintains leading-edge knowledge of commercial vehicle diagnosis technology, digital manuals, and reference materials
• Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
• Follows all shop policy, procedure, safety, and environmental rules
• Maintains an organized shop and tool inventory so that the shop runs in an efficient manner
• Attends all staff meetings, trainings, and educational classes as required
• Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED required
• Post-secondary automotive training or equivalent work experience
• One year of dealer-level or large facility experience preferred
• ASE certification (or is willing to obtain certification)
• Broad scope of automotive mechanical/electrical knowledge
• Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record
• CDL preferred
• Highly productive with minimal supervision
• Highly professional and dependable
• Safety and customer service oriented
• Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
• Basic computer and internet skills

Pay: From $16.80 per hour
