We have an Excellent opportunity available for an experienced Purchasing / Assistant Manager. This position will be primarily responsible for the source selection and procurement functions of the Perishable Floral Product Category as well as assisting the General Manager with overseeing the daily operational functions of the Lexington distribution facility.

The successful Purchasing/Assistant Manager will be able to:

Purchasing:

• Source, select, and purchase products at the most favorable price, quality, quantity and specification requirements.
• Maintain inventory levels and actively review stock to sales ratios
• Negotiate prices, delivery arrangements, discount & payment terms.
• Analyze and monitor market prices and economic conditions to anticipate consumer buying patterns.
• Plan and forecast for future product buys based on historical sales records/activity, recurring buys, and current inventory levels.
• Inspect products for quality and value. Minimize shrinkage/spoilage of product. Initiate credit process for returns or damages.
• Recommend mark-up rates, mark-down rates, and selling prices for product.
• Actively work with sales staff & management to determine customer buying needs, communicate delivery schedules, product availability, etc.

Supervision:

• Staffing and personnel management
• Assist with supervising the daily operational functions of Order fulfillment & Distribution, Receiving, Quality Control, Safety/Security, Facility & Fleet Management / Maintenance.

Qualifications:

• 2-5(+) years Management or Supervisory experience within a similar field
• 1-5 years Purchasing experience
• Associates or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
• Knowledge in the fundamentals of Business Administration & Management
• Excellent comprehension, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to cultivate and motivate teams
• Analytical, problem-solving, and decision making skills
• Organization and Time Management skills
• Intermediate computer skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
