POSITION TITLE: Food Bank Warehouse Assistant/Driver
RESPONSIBLE TO: Regional Food Bank Director

RESPONSIBLE FOR: The Food Bank Warehouse Assistant/Driver is a full-time, non-exempt position, and is the primary back up to the Warehouse Lead as well as driving, picking up and delivering food throughout the county. Additionally, this position is responsible for maintaining an organized/clean warehouse, warehouse equipment, and adheres to the safe handling of food products. This individual collaborates daily with Food Bank staff to ensure high quality customer service with our established donors and partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

1. Create a positive team atmosphere providing quality customer service to partner agencies, donors, clients, staff, volunteers, partners and general public through active listening, positive problem solving, and timely responses.

2. Maintain organization/cleanliness of warehouse/mezzanine adhering to OSHA & Oregon Food Bank safety standards. This includes but not limited to: pest abatement, cleaning, sanitizing, sweeping, mopping.

3. Maintain equipment to include but not limited to; forklift, pallet jacks, cooler, freezer, with routine inspections, checklists and/or logs.

4. Provide primary back-up to Warehouse Lead with pallet-building, food box building, related food distribution and receiving, food sorting, and basic inventory tasks using Primarius software.

5. Ensure safe and timely pick-up of food donations and distribution of Fresh Alliance food as well as other donated product to partner agencies and distribution sites.

6. Ensure that procedures and best practices for handling food products established by YCAP Food Bank, Feeding
America and Oregon Food Bank are understood and followed.

7. Maintain accurate food recovery program and donated food records to ensure that product is accounted for and properly recorded at all times.

8. Assist in educating and promoting YCAP programs and Food Bank services to our partners, potential donors and the general public.

9. Adhere to all YCAP policies and procedures, including but not limited to safety protocols, food handling practices, and equipment operation procedures

10. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge of computers and software programs
Skill in verbal and written communications, problem solving, team work & multi-tasking
Ability to work independently on multiple projects in a timely fashion
Ability to work as a team player within a very cohesive team
Ability to work professionally with diverse people, organizations and situations
Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
Ability to obtain/maintain forklift & electric pallet jack certification
Ability to obtain an Oregon Food Handler’s certificate and/or become ServSafe Qualified
Ability to work flexible schedule, occasional weekends and attend out of town workshops and meetings

Ability to drive agency vehicles and pass background, drug screen & insurance requirements

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee will be required to sit, stand, kneel, walk or bend for extended periods of time. The employee is frequently required to reach with arms, hands; climb stairs or balance; stoop, kneel or work from a ladder. Must frequently lift and/or remove up to 50 pounds, occasionally move up to 100 pounds with a hand truck and push or pull pallets over one ton with a pallet jack. Employee will be going in and out of cooler and/or freezer with extreme variations in temperature. Certain work will require extended working time within the freezer at sub-zero temperatures.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.50 per hour
