Food expeditors communicate orders and information between the front of house and back of house, making sure that food is cooked in the right order, quickly, and presented to the customer as beautifully as possible.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure communication in the kitchen by calling out orders, getting the status on dishes, and calling the waitstaff to serve completed dishes.
- Inform the waitstaff when certain dishes or ingredients have run out; pass food requests from the waitstaff to the kitchen.
- Monitor the food portions on completed dishes according to restaurant standards.
- Ensure that all orders are completed in time and with the correct priority.
- Inspect the cleanliness, presentation, and temperature of completed dishes.
- Performing the finishing touches to completed dishes, such as adding garnishes and removing smudges.
- Keep the cooking, storage, and prep areas clean, neat, and well-stocked.
- Run food if necessary.
- Ensure all staff adheres to company and health department safety standards and procedures.
- Assist all staff as needed.
- Handle customer complaints on behalf of the kitchen staff and looking for solutions.
- Adhere to policies and procedures set by the company and Health Department.
Requirements:
- Good understanding of restaurant health and safety regulations.
- Relevant restaurant experience may be advantageous.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong attention to detail, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
- Great customer service skills.
- Ability to handle a high-pressure, fast-paced, and stressful environment.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods, assist where needed, and carry heavy trays.
- Food handling certification, or willingness to obtain one.
- One (1) year of expediter experience preferred.
- Two (2) years of restaurant experience required; country club setting preferred.
- High school diploma or GED.
Computer Skills:
- Basic software knowledge in MS Word, Excel, and reservation system.
- Knowledge in a restaurant point of sale service platform preferred.
Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:
- Work is performed in a restaurant environment both indoors and outdoors.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to maintain active member and employee communication.
- May be subject to bending, reaching, kneeling, and stooping. May also be subject to moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds with assistance and objects in excess of 50 pounds with assistance.
- Stands, sits, or walks for an extended period.
- In addition, the candidate for this position must own reliable transportation, have good conversational English skills, be punctual and present themselves in an appropriate manner for a Country Club environment.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
- Part-time position, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Flexibility in work hours preferred.
