Job Overview

As a Forklift Operator & Material Handler you are responsible for navigating a production facility or warehouse to move materials and products around as directed using powered industrial trucks (PIT). You may be using a sit-down or stand-up forklift to perform your duties. It is expected that you are detailed oriented and organized to accurately keep track of goods and their locations.

Responsibilities for Forklift Operator & Material Handler

• Keep track of the location of products and materials
• Load, move, and unload products and materials from one location to another as assigned by supervisor or submitted work orders
• Report any exceptions (damaged or lost goods) to management
• Maintain a safe job site by avoiding hazards
• Perform routine inspections on the forklift
• Perform care and maintenance of equipment as requested
• Ensure proper health and safety regulations are followed
• Store the forklift back in the proper place
• Work well with others

Qualifications for Forklift Operator & Material Handler

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Have experience with order scanning, picking & selecting (RF Scanner)
• Must know how to receive and inventory goods used for production
• Certified to operate heavy machinery
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to follow proper safety procedures
• Ability to maintain a safe working area
• Knowledge of heavy machinery
• Proficient verbal, written, and organizational skills
• Must be able to pass a drug screen
• Willingness to work overtime as requested or needed (overtime pay applies)
• Must be punctual and dependable
• Must have reliable transportation

Forklift Operator & Material Handler Compensation

Compensation will be competitive based on level of skill. Forklift Operators typically earn $12 to $15 per hour (overtime pay starts at $18.00 to $22.50 per hour).
