IMC is currently hiring a FT Scheduler- who, under the Scheduling Supervisor, will assists physicians’ offices and patients in scheduling diagnostic and therapeutic services to be performed by the hospital. Also, they will ensure that pre-certification and insurance verification are done in a timely manner and that pre-certification has been obtained prior to any procedure being performed that require verification.
JOB SUMMARY:
- Communicates patient financial responsibility to the patient OR communicates the patient’s insurance benefits to the Financial Counselor so that a proper quote of patient financial responsibility may be communicated to the patient.
- Notifies insurance companies of patients’ inpatient admissions and communicates any insurance’s request for clinical information to the Case Management department.
- Insurance verification information must be entered into the hospital’s information system and pre-registration packets filed promptly for reference by other staff and departments.
- All employees are to communicate in a customer-friendly, professional manner to assist our patients, visitors and other customers.
- May be required to help in other areas of registration or PBX when needed. E
- very effort is made to have scheduled procedures pre-admitted and notified of financial responsibility 2 weeks in advance of their procedure.
WORK HOURS:
- Monday thru Friday; Can be one of 3 shifts: 7:30AM-4PM; 8:00AM – 4:30PM; or 8:30AM-5PM.
- Note that because the registration department is staffed twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
- Schedulers “may” be required to work some weekends and holidays, regardless of any established work schedules.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- EDUCATION:
o High school graduate or equivalent.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
o Background of medical terminology and prior health care experience desirable.
o Two years related experience in a health care facility preferred.
