A Contractor FTU Squadron Activity Security Manager (ASM) receives initial ASM training from an USAF/Seymour Johnson AFB Advanced Programs (AP) Security Specialist. The ASM will provide advice/guidance to the AP Program Security Manager (PSM) on squadron security issues. The ASM is responsible for assisting the PSM develop and implement security policies, plans, and procedures for all personnel and facilities that support advanced or special programs. The ASM will conduct and document regular self-inspections of program facilities and operations. Additionally, the ASM will maintain strict accountability of all accountable material, support security investigations, and establish procedures for document marking, safeguarding and use.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Establishing and monitoring personnel access controls, need to know criteria, physical security controls and transmitting, transferring, reproducing, downgrading and destroying information.
  • Assists in the interpretation and proper application of squadron specific or related Security Directives and Classification Guides.
  • Assists the Advanced Program Cyber-Security Liaison and performs the duties of Squadron Cyber-security Liaison including unlocking accounts, scheduling AIS maintenance, and keeping databases current.
  • Ensures foreign travel requirements are met before personnel travel to foreign countries.
  • Prepares deployment plans and gathers all required document for squadron deployments, cross country trips, airshows, and any other time an aircraft will remain off station.
  • Accepts responsibility as a certified classified courier.
  • Responsible for configuring the network as deployed locations.
  • Performs duties as assigned by the Weapons Duty Officer and is the Squadron POC for higher headquarters reviews.
  • Provides direct oversight for all vault activities and ensures 100% vault inventory.
  • Ensures all personnel are in compliance with all annual security training.
  • Ensures all equipment used within the Squadron (safes, reproduction equipment, destruction devices, etc.) is in compliance with applicable requirements/standards.
  • Accomplishes duties as a Security Trainer that include developing and conducting security training for Squadron members.
  • Prepares, sends, and receives all visit requests through AP. Ensures visitors have the required clearance. Provides/supports escort requirements.
  • Performs facility COMSEC Manager requirements as assigned. Duties include performing combo changes, performing opening and closing procedures, monitoring and responding to the alarm systems.
  • Accomplishes other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Two-year’s experience in security management for the Department of Defense (DOD).
  • Must have an active Secret clearance within the past 24 months, be within 6 years of the closure date and the ability to acquire SAP/SAR access.

  • Must have knowledge of concepts, procedures, and practices within various program security disciplines (personnel, physical, information, AIS, industrial, OPSEC, and COMSEC).
  • Must be able to develop, analyze, and evaluate security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the organization.
  • Must have knowledge of procedures, forms, information and confidentiality requirements related to sensitive personal information to request security investigations.
  • Must have experience in one or more automated databases and software application associated with a specific security function to recognize, locate, and insert data/information and produce a variety of documents and reports.
