The USET Grant Writer/Coordinator is responsible for assisting the USET Grant Manager with identifying and securing a diverse set of funding opportunities to support the needs of program services to further the organizations development and sustainability. This includes but is not limited to, researching private, foundation, and government funding, grant writing / coordination, and overall grants management.

Exempt/Non-Exempt and Salary Range

The USET Grant Writer Coordinator is an exempt position requiring occasional travel and irregular work hours, with a salary range starting at $48,000 per year (negotiable depending upon experience).

Reporting Relationship:

The Grant Writer Coordinator is supervised by the Grant Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assists Grant Manager in performing research and identify grant opportunities from federal, state, local, and Tribal government grantors, private foundations, and corporate organizations that support the organization’s mission, goals, objectives, and activities outlined in long- and short-term strategic planning documents.

2. In coordination with Grant Manager, write grant proposals with information gained through research processes and strong working relationships with Department Directors a strong understanding of organizational goals and objectives, feasibility studies and department needs.

3. Assists Grant Manager with maintaining a database of grant proposals submitted, their status, reporting to grantors and grant closeouts.

4. Assists Grant Manager with administering grant/proposal submission policy and process for the organization.

5. In partnership with the Grant Manager , responsible for collecting demographic information and data to be maintained in a database of information on the organization and its member Tribes which will be useful to develop grant proposals and planning documents. Experience with evidence-based practices a plus.

6. Assists Grant Manager with providing regular progress reports on grant funding goals, and other reports as requested, and pursuant to conversations with funders.

7. Assists Grant Manager with preparation of renewal proposals, or assist departments with renewal submissions, for active grants which will require a renewal application to continue multi-year funding.

8. Assists Grant Manager with writing press releases, social media and website news, and information posts, articles for a quarterly newsletter.

9. Overnight Travel, assistance with organizational events, and attendance at grant writing workshops and seminars.

10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Minimum of a Bachelor of Arts degree from an accredited college or university, which has equipped applicant with knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform duties of the position.

2. Strong critical thinking/problem-solving skills

3. At least three years of increasingly responsible positions in grant writing.

4. Must possess excellent verbal/written communication and organizational skills.

5. Must have excellent time management skills, ability to handle multiple projects

6. Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Access.

7. Must have demonstrable ability to work with people from diverse cultures including cultural sensitivity and the ability to work within the customs and traditions of various tribal groups.

8. Ability to travel and work irregular hours as necessary.
