The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture (UTIA) Marketing and Communications office seeks to hire a creative and highly motivated graphic designer to join its team. This position works closely with other team members and clients to support the mission and uphold the brand of UTIA and its units and departments. This person will design and/or update various printed and electronic materials that will represent UTIA visually to constituents within the organization, in the state of Tennessee, and globally. This position requires the ability to create original designs with a high visual impact and that work within the existing UTIA brand guidelines. Projects may range from small-scale updates of existing designs to larger-scale items such as annual reports or magazines. This person should have a good understanding of how design relates to emerging technologies and social media. On occasion, this position may also have photography duties.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or closely related field
- Professional experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis if applicant has an Associate’s degree in Graphic Design or closely related field.
Experience
- 2+ years working in a fast-paced, deadline and detail-oriented, graphic design environment
Knowledge
- Advanced proficiency with current version of the Adobe CS software
- Proficiency in industry standard office suite software including digital presentation software
- Knowledge of printing processes and techniques
Skills/Abilities
- Strong design skills to include composition, typography, color and photography
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize jobs
- Work well independently as well as within a group
- Receptive to constructive criticism
- Professional and customer service-oriented attitude
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated
