Nanticoke Gardens is seeking a full-time, seasonal Greenhouse Assistant, to aid in the day-to-day operations. Initially the job will assist us during our poinsettia season. At the end of Poinsettia season, there will be an opportunity for continued employment preparing for our Spring retail season.

Job Duties during Poinsettia season:

The Greenhouse Assistant will be responsible for aiding the owners, greenhouse manager and other assistants with the following tasks:

· Make bows

· Tie wire to bows and pinecones

· Hand decorate wreaths

· Help unload deliveries of plants

· Foil and sleeve plants

· Clean off dead foliage

· Sort plants for orders

· Water plants as needed

· Assist in loading plants into customer vehicles or on trucks for delivery

· Deliver wreath and poinsettia orders in company vehicles

Job Duties during Spring transplanting season (dependent upon satisfactory performance and review):

The Greenhouse Assistant will work under the direction of the owners, greenhouse manager and growers to aid in all stages of plant production including:

· Transplanting, planting, labeling, staking, pinching, taking cuttings, de-budding

· Watering – either by hand or through various watering systems

· Moving and spacing plants

· Cleaning work area, sales area, label storage area

· Preparing plants for shipping

Nanticoke Gardens is a “small” but growing, locally owned and operated business in Endicott, NY.

Our goal is to be the best quality plant supplier in the Southern Tier.

Our ideal candidate will be able to work independently in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, and:

· Work well with their hands

· Be able to be on their feet all day

· Work in and walk through an eighteen-inch aisle

· Withstand varying greenhouse temperatures

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
Masks are available for use; hand sanitizer is located throughout the greenhouses and tools are sanitized daily.

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Endicott, NY 13760: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• Greenhouse experience: 1 year (Preferred)
