Job description
JOB GOAL: To provide groundskeeping services for all system facilities, such that grounds are clean, well kept, and safe.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS: * High school diploma, or equivalent, preferred. * Must obtain unrestricted CDL license within 60 days of employment. CDL training provided by RCPS. * Related experience or ability to learn grounds maintenance work. Experience in construction is preferred. * Knowledge of tools used in groundwork and basic construction. * Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions. * Ability to recognize safety hazards in the work involved and to take precautionary measures to protect self and others. * Ability to operate a variety of power mowers, trimmers, edgers, and related equipment. * Valid Georgia driver’s license and good driving record. * Physical demands - must be able to stand and walk the majority of the day, performing heavy manual labor; lift and carry twenty (20) to thirty (30) pounds on occasion and up to one hundred (100) pounds infrequently; push or pull same amounts frequently. The job also requires frequent bending and stooping. The job is performed outside the majority of the day, in all types of weather conditions.
JOB DUTIES: * Is present at work every day and arrives at assigned time. 2 * Demonstrates an attitude and demeanor that contributes to an atmosphere of harmony and goodwill in the workplace. * Interacts in a professional manner with students, staff, and school/district leaders. * Performs general grounds-keeping duties such as trimming, clearing brush, cutting, and edging through the use of hand tools and/or power-operated equipment. * Assists in planting trees and shrubbery and provides general care to lawns and grounds; removes weeds, dirt, leaves, rubbish, and other refuse from grounds. * Repairs and cleans building walks, tools, and equipment. * Maintains roads, drainage areas, playgrounds, and recreational areas. * Clears ditches; builds ditches; builds retaining walls. Assists in the installation of sprinkler systems, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, swales, storm drains, catch basins, etc. Removes installs, and repairs various types of water and sewer pipes. * Complies with all requirements for mandatory reporting of child abuse, illegal harassment, or any criminal activity for which the employee becomes aware. * Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Pay: $22,443.00 - $48,503.00 per year
